Free Will Defence: Human beings have been given Free Will; the ability to choose for ourselves what to do. If we did not have Free Will we would be like robots or automata, we would have no choices of our own.
Immortality: We make decisions that shape the people we become. Our mortality makes us value the present because we may not have a future. It is the fact of death and its finality that gives our lives the meaning that they have.
Am I Dreaming? It would not make sense to say my whole life is a dream. If I were dreaming all the time, then I would have no concept of a dream. I would have nothing with which to contrast dreaming since I would have no concept of being awake.
Casual Realism: Casual Realism assumes that the causes of our sense experience are physical objects in the external world. Casual realism takes as its starting point the observation the main biological function of our senses is to help us find our way around our environment.
